As a therapist, I consider my role in your life as a gift from you. A gift to be honored and treated with the utmost respect. I will listen with empathy, sit with you in your pain, help you make sense of your world, and challenge your established patterns of thoughts and behaviours to help you move closer to the life you want.
I practice psychotherapy from a humanistic/existential philosophy. I believe humans are born with all the capacities we need to get through this life and a shared innate need to love, be loved and belong to something beyond ourselves. Unfortunately, we can’t always control what happens in our world so we may be blocked from accessing those capacities, or maybe we never really had the opportunity to discover and know what wisdom and strength is within us to help us grow and thrive.
You can expect the journey we take together… will be bumpy, there may be detours along the way, you may even want to abandon it and I ask you to trust the process. I will be right there with you until we reach our destination.
I have significant experience and expertise working with individuals experiencing thoughts of suicide. I understand suicide is not about wanting to be dead, rather it’s about not wanting to live with the pain we’re experiencing and at times suicide seems like a solution to end that pain. Whether your thoughts are new or if they have been with you for some time; whether you have attempted suicide before or not, talk to me.
I provide psychotherapy integrating various models of therapy to individuals aged 16+ and couples. My office is in Fergus, Ontario.
I am a Registered Social Worker and a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services (OCSWSSW). and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I hold a Bachelor of Social Work (Honors) (2012) and Masters Degree in Social Work (2015) from King’s University College at Western University.
